Killer AI and the sales pitch

Written in response to Mackenzie Hughes’s LinkedIn post about AI companies’ claims.
I was chatting with a business owner this week when they told me they’d seen on CNN that AI is going to kill us all.
I was writing up something similar to what Mackenzie has here, only not nearly as well put. I couldn’t agree more with this note.
“Killer ai” is both a sales tactic and a political move to get governments to set up monopolies so only a small few companies and wealthy people win.
Governments have never had any trouble killing people with tech, ai won’t be any different, just another potential nightmare weapon for those that choose to abuse it.
My only notes is that i also do believe some of the ai people can be a bit delusional and unfortunately believe their own parlor tricks, so they are very convincing in interviews.
